General Announcements

• Today please remember to be kind, respectful and inclusive to each other in our hallways, classrooms and community.
• A reminder for all grade 9 students of Take Our Kids to Work Day coming up quickly on Wed. Nov. 1. Please talk to your parents, decide on your job shadow for the day and have them sign the online permission form(s) as soon as possible.
• Supply drive is up and running, run by Jackson, Riley, Spencer and Luke for ILT/Citizenship. Come by the office to donate your extra binders, duotangs, pencils, erasers, sharpeners or any other spare school supplies to the school supply drive.  Go to Ellenvale Junior High, at the main office, to donate today.
• Bring your loonies and toonies tomorrow for the female volleyball bake sale at lunch!
• Hey poets - got words? Woodlawn Public Library is hosting The Great Harbour Poetry Slam. The Poetry Slam is open to anyone 14+ who has a poem they would like to perform. Your poems should be 3 minutes or less and can be about anything and in any style, such as limerick, haiku, and free verse. The open mic is for anyone who wants to read or perform anything up to 5 minutes.  There is a sign-up sheet at the door of the library for the Poetry Slam and open mic. Takes place Tuesday, November 14 from 7:00-8:30PM.
• October is a big month, in this month we learn about Mi'kmaq History, Islamic History, Hispanic Heritage and Women’s History. Each day we will learn something new. I invite any students or staff to come see us with any ideas they may have on how we can celebrate and learn more.
• Check out the Latin Billboard Award winners for 2023, many amazing LatinX artists including BadBunny, Shakira and Daddy Yankee. 
• If you have forgotten your LUNCH today please let us know in the office by 10am, come by and see Ms. Hernon or Ms. Sushmita or tell your teacher so they can let us know.
• Healthy Hunger has a vendor on each day of the week again! Mondays and Fridays are The Lunch Lady with lots of great options.  Dominos Tuesday with pizza, pasta and chicken! Pita Pit Wednesdays and Kenny’s Pizza Thursdays! Place your orders a week in advance online!

Athletic Announcements

• A huge shout out to our provincial cross-country runners who competed at the Provincial Meet in Cheticamp Cape Breton yesterday.  Out of over 100 intermediate boys: Evan Ren came in 6th, Luke Ellis came in 14th and Nikhil Batra came in 23rd. The majority of runners in this race were grade 10. Way to go Eagles!!!
• Male volleyball practice tomorrow and Thursday after school until 4:30PM.
